The Class7400 diesel locomotive is an electric super large diesel locomotive for passenger and freight trains of Korail (Korea Railroad Company).
In 1967, GMC / EMD released GT26CW, a locomotive model for export, and the railway authorities decided to purchase and operate the model.
At that time, the best-selling locomotives sold in the East, the West, and the Third World supported the perfect localization of the export-type model, and there are models of narrow gauge, standard gauge, and wide gauge respectively. If the SD40 is an American-style 3,000-horsepower standard locomotive, the GT26CW is the diesel-electric locomotive standard of the 3,000-horsepower class of the other national railways. Compared to the SD40, volume and weight have been reduced, but it is US standard and above average in other countries.
